Carron + Walsh are currently completing tender documents on the first phase of the project to establish a new Free Economic Zone in Alat, Azerbaijan ( which will facilitate the establishment of this commercial bridge between Europe and Asia as a major distribution hub and value-added investment location in Eurasia.

This project includes works on three large sites designed to diversify and stimulate economic growth in the region by attracting new value-added and manufacturing activities including Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Alat is located south of the Capital City Baku on the Caspian Sea. Carron + Walsh has been working in conjunction with the wider design team lead by Garland Consulting Engineers throughout the development of the Masterplan which involves development of the three sites with a total area in the region of 850Ha to provide complete site infrastructure, a number of office buildings, the construction of new bridges over existing state highways and incorporation of the existing national rail network into one of the sites.

Planning has been granted today, 10th July 2020, for the Waterford North Quays Landmark Development. Carron + Walsh are delighted to have led the design team through the planning process and are looking forward to providing Project and Cost Management Consultancy Services on this Landmark Development as we complete detailed design, take this project on site and deliver a first class, sustainable development for Waterford and the South East Region.

The development will consist of a Hotel, Mixed Use Commercial Building inclusive of Retail, Food and Beverage Units, Leisure & Entertainment areas along with a Tourism and Visitor Centre. The grant of permission also includes a 7-Storey Office Block, Crèche and Residential Apartments comprising 298 units, a public park adjacent to Rice Bridge, a riverside promenade incorporating a pedestrian and cycle route linking to existing and future Greenways and connections to the proposed new Transport Hub and Sustainable Transport Bridge.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new employee Paul Hegarty.

Paul joins Carron + Walsh as Practice Director, assisting with business development, overseeing technical delivery, and leading the QA, H&S and HR departments within the Practice.

Having over twenty-three years’ experience in the construction industry, in Ireland, the Middle East and Australia, Paul has acquired significant experience in the procurement and contract administration of Rail, Infrastructure and Building projects in the public and private sectors.

Paul recently completed a role as Senior Commercial Manager in the Middle East, leading a team of Quantity Surveyors in the commercial and contract administration of a €3bn Underground Metro Project in Qatar.

We look forward to working with Paul and wish him every success in his new role with us.

Carron + Walsh have been appointed on two scalable public works residential schemes at Cappaghfinn, Finglas and Hayestown, Rush by Fingal County Council.  The developments involve the fast track development of dwellings scheduled for delivery in 2021.

An Post has appointed Carron + Walsh to provide Quantity Surveying services with respect to retail / re-branding fitouts in their Sligo and Letterkenny stores.  This follows an earlier appointment in 2019 for a retail fit-out of the GPO in Cork.
